The award-winning Saugus High School Dance Team hosted its first U.S.A. Regional Dance Competition Saturday.

All five Hart High School District dance teams - Canyon, Hart, Saugus, Valencia and West Ranch - were among the thirteen teams there to compete.

Despite of the team rivalries, they cheered each other on and sat intermingled together for awards at the close of the competition.

"This is truly unprecedented as it never happens at these events," said Hart High Dance Team booster member Candace Scott.

Parents of other city's team dancers outside of the Santa Clarita Valley were shocked and amazed all of our Hart District teams were so openly friendly and supportive.

Hart High School Dance Team's end-of-the-year showcase is May 1 and 2.

All five district teams, plus local dance studios will be featured as well.

Dance team making its mark
In the school's fifth year of existence, the West Ranch High School Dance Team already made its mark on the high school dance world.

The team competed at one West Coast Elite competition and two U.S.A. regionals competitions where they have qualified all five of their dances for U.S.A. Nationals.

West Ranch will compete in the U.S.A. Nationals March 27 and 28.

Junior soloist, Amanda Bloch, placed first in the 11th-grade division at the West Coast Elite competition, and was in the top 10 of all solos at the competition.

"We are so proud of our team and we are so excited that our hard work is finally paying off," said senior captains Arielle Ticknor and Dillon Jones.

The West Ranch dance team will host its own dance show April 18.
