A San Gabriel Police Department officer injured Wednesday when his motorcycle and a car collided at an intersection in Canyon Country remained at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital on Thursday, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Officer Steven Rodrigues was in stable condition more than 24 hours after he was admitted for injuries suffered in the collision around 7 a.m. Wednesday, spokeswoman Katreena Salgado said.

Rodrigues underwent emergency surgery Wednesday after having suffered a broken left leg, a broken right foot, a concussion and numerous abrasions, according to sheriff’s deputies.

Traffic investigators with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, meanwhile, continued their probe into the collision between Rodrigues’s police motorcycle and a car on Whites Canyon Road at Ranier Street in Canyon Country, said Lt. John Rush.
