Saugus Crime Report: deputies report drop in crime

Good afternoon Saugus. This last week we had only four reported Part-1 crimes keeping the crime rate the lowest in the Santa Clarita Valley. There was one residential burglary in the 27500 block of Falling Star Lane on Thursday, 07/13/2013. The victim, who was in the process of moving out, had miscellaneous electrical equipment stolen while he was out of town. It is believed that entry was made by use of a key in the real estate box on the front door.

There was a vehicle stolen in the 28100 block of Alaminos Drive on Monday, 07/08/13. The victim witnessed an acquaintance steal his vehicle and drive off out of view. Deputies and Detectives are actively searching for the suspect.

We had a grand theft in the 25100 block of Barn Hill Road between Tuesday, 07/02/13, and Friday, 07/05/13. While the victim was out of town she had a family member house sit for her. The family member allowed other people in the house who are believed to be responsible for stealing over $48,000 in jewelry. Detectives are following up on leads in this incident.

There was an arrest made for child abuse on Wednesday, 07/10/13, in the 25100 block of David Way. The suspect was arrested after assaulting his daughter with a belt and other stationary object.
