Canyon Country East Crime Report: deputies investigate an assault and burglaries

This week in Canyon Country-East we had 13 Part-1 crimes. Of those reported crimes, there was 1 assault, 2 burglaries, 6 vehicle burglaries, 1 larceny, and 3 shopliftings.

A domestic violence/assault occurred from the 18000 block of Flynn Drive. The couple has been married for a year and a half. On several occasions, the suspect attempted to suffocate the victim with a pillow.

A residential burglary occurred from the 18400 block of Jakes Way. The unknown suspect(s) stole checks from the residence and used them to purchase items at several locations. There was no forced entry, for several weeks the front door lock has not worked properly. A residential burglary occurred from the 15600 block of Poppyseed Lane, unknown suspect(s) entered the location and stole tools from the garage.

A petty theft occurred from the 29600 block of Mammoth Lane. The victim’s son stole her Ipad and pawned it.

Vehicle burglaries occurred from the following locations: Oak Springs Rd/Soledad Canyon Road, the 29100 block of Poppy Meadow Street, the 30000 block of Jasmine Valley Road, The 28900 block of Sam Place, the 15800 block and the 15900 block of Ada Street. All occurred between July 23rd and July 24th in the early morning hours. In all incidents the window was smashed and personal items were taken.

Shopliftings occurred at the Target store and at 7-11. A male was arrested for stealing clothing at the Kohls store. He was also in possession of narcotics.

There has been an increase in vehicle burglaries. ALWAYS lock your doors and windows and place a padlock on your gates leading into your yard. Continue to lock your garage doors and make sure to also lock your vehicle. Do not leave any personal property visible in your car. If you have to leave it in the car, secure it in the trunk.

Make sure to always park in well-lit areas and be cognizant of your surroundings. If you see any suspicious activity either close to your home or while you are out shopping, call the Sheriff’s station at (661) 255-1121 or 9-1-1 in an emergency.
