The UnitedHealthcare Children’s Foundation is offering medical grants for Santa Clarita Valley families who need financial assistance to help pay for a child’s health care treatments, officials with the organization announced today.

Nearly 100 grants have been handed out in California over the past two years, totaling more than $270,000 to help families of children 16 or younger with medical needs not covered by insurance.

Grants are available for medical expenses that families have incurred 60 days prior to the date of application, as well as for ongoing and future medical needs, organizers said.

Parents or legal guardians may apply for grants. There is no application deadline.

UnitedHealthcare Children’s Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) public charity aimed at helping children who have health care needs not fully covered by their health benefit plan. Corporate sponsors include Walgreens, Xerox, Ricoh, J.P.Morgan and AARP, among others.
