Santa Clarita Valley: motorcyclist recovering from crash injuries

A motorcyclist seriously hurt in a crash Sunday morning in the Santa Clarita Valley remained in the hospital Wednesday recovering from his injuries, an official said.

The victim, seen wearing a Vietnam Veteran logo on the back of a leather jacket and riding with two others wearing similar jackets, lost control of his vehicle on the northbound Interstate 5 near Calgrove Boulevard, according to a

Sacramento couple who said they saw the crash.

“My husband witnessed the rider’s fall as we were returning home to Sacramento (Sunday) morning,” said the woman.

“I only turned around fast enough to see the motorcycle slowly drift across the lanes,” she said. “From what my husband saw in the rearview mirror, he did not believe the motorcyclist could have survived.”

The woman said the motorcyclist appeared to be riding with “two Vietnam vets on motorcycles right next to us in the fast lane wearing leather jackets with a logo as such,”

She said the couple wants to send flowers to the crash victim.

The victim, whose name was not released, underwent orthopedic surgery to treat musculoskeletal trauma and is no undergoing physical therapy, an official said.
