Holly Schroeder is the new president and CEO of the Santa Clarita Valley Economic Development Corporation, the group announced Monday night. She assumes her new position Sept. 9.

Schroeder replaces Jonas Peterson, who left at the end of June to take a position in the Las Vegas area.

For the past eight years, Schroeder served as the CEO Los Angeles and Ventura Chapter of the Building Industry Association. Previously she worked for the state of Oregon.

A resident of Santa Clarita since 2005, Schroeder said she knows a lot of the people and businesses in the region from her work with the BIA.

As a result, Schroeder will be able to “authentically describe” what makes Santa Clarita “special and unique” when working with out-of-area businesses, she said.

Schroeder said the number one mandate for her, and focus of the SCVEDC, is to attract businesses and grow jobs.

”Holly’s management and executive expertise will help grow the SCVEDC as an organization,” said Don Fleming, Co-Chair of the SCVEDC.

“Additionally,  her intimate knowledge of the Santa Clarita Valley and Southern California business environment and the issues we face will let her hit the ground running as we focus on growing our local job base.”

Before selecting Schroeder, the SCVEDC conducted a nationwide search, Fleming said.

“It is exciting that our final choice is a local resident with an outstanding business reputation and proven track record.”
