Two men were injured and taken to separate hospitals following a traffic collision near Acton on Tuesday morning.

Shortly before 6:45 a.m., a black Chevy Impala and a red Saturn collided on the southbound lanes of Highway 14 near Escondido Canyon Road, a spokesman for Fire Station 81 said.

The driver of the Saturn suffered serious injuries and was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital after the vehicle flipped on its roof during the crash.

The Impala driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to Antelope Valley Hospital.

Following the collision the two cars blocked the Nos. 1 and 2 lanes of the freeway, stopping traffic for more than an hour.

The crash was near the scene of a 19-car pileup in June 2012 that injured 18 people when a big rig slammed into multiple cars halted during a traffic stop to remove debris in the roadway.
