SANTA CLARITA — Two teen girls were injured, one seriously, in a single-car crash in Saugus this week, a California Highway Patrol sergeant said today.

Heather L. Cavallero, 17, of Santa Clarita was driving a 2003 Ford Mustang at a high rate of speed northbound on Tesoro Del Valle on Tuesday when she lost control of the vehicle on a curve at Calle Verano around 3:15 p.m., said CHP Sgt. John Lutz.

The Mustang skidded across the southbound lanes and slammed into a light standard, Lutz said in a news release.
Cavallero suffered major injuries in the collision, and her passenger, Taylor Lahs, 16, of Santa Clarita, suffered minor injuries. Both girls were taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.

No arrests were made in the incident, Lutz said.
