The summer season is winding down at Six Flags Hurricane Harbor, with the water park set to cease weekday operation after Labor Day.

Hurricane Harbor will be open for weekends during the month of September before closing up shop until next season.

“It’s been a very successful season,” said park spokeswoman Sue Carpenter. “The water park is the place to be on hot, summer days.”

But the start of the next season will also feature some new attractions at the water park, Carpenter said. The park will debut two new slides, called the Bonzai Pipelines, in 2014.

The slides will feature a drop-in launch where the floor will drop out from underneath riders, Carpenter said. This will give riders a faster start as they go into the slide, she said.

“You’ll get into a capsule and it will drop you in,” she said of the new slides. “It will be something very new that people haven’t seen before.”

Hurricane Harbor will close for the season on Sept. 29, Carpenter said.

Some changes are also coming to Six Flags Magic Mountain in 2014, Carpenter said, including a new roller coaster in the Bugs Bunny World section of the park.

Two older coasters, Batman: The Ride and Colossus will also run backward for a short time, according to Carpenter.
