Saugus High School's literary magazine, "The Centinel," has been selected to receive the Highest Award rank in the 2008 National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) Program to Recognize Excellence in Student Literary Magazines (PRESLM).

A total of 489 schools entered their magazines and Saugus was one of 50 chosen to receive the Highest Award rank.

The program recognizes students, teachers and schools for producing excellent literary magazines. Its mission is to encourage all schools to develop literary magazines, seeking excellence in writing and school-wide participation in production.

Principal Bill Bolde presented "The Centinel's" faculty advisor Ty Devoe and student editors an award certificate in a special ceremony in late February.
