5 p.m.: Community members are invited to the annual Patriot Day event at Dr. Richard H. Rioux Memorial Park in Stevenson Ranch, where they can join in preparing care packages for American troops overseas. The event runs until 8 p.m. at the park, 26233 Faulkner Drive, Stevenson Ranch.

8 p.m.: Route 66 in Canyon Country will host a tribute to those who lost their lives in the 9/11 attack with a special singing of the Star-Spangled Banner, a presentation by a retired Los Angeles fire captain who was at Ground Zero, and a performance by a bag piper. Restaurant is at 18730 Soledad Canyon Road in Canyon Country.

Various elementary schools around the Santa Clarita Valley are having special Patriot Day performances. Check with your child’s school for more information.
