SANTA CLARITA - At least 10 volunteers spent Tuesday searching for missing 19-year-old Bryce Laspisa without luck, one of the searchers said.

“We spent all day searching on one side of the (Castaic) Lake, and now we’re going to the west side of the lake,” volunteer Debra Sweetland said late Tuesday afternoon.

Bryce Laspisa, who attended Sierra College near Sacramento and whose parents live in Laguna Niguel, was believed to have disappeared somewhere in the Castaic Lake area on Friday, Aug. 30.

His SUV was found on its side at the bottom of a 15-foot embankment, and Laspisa hasn’t been heard from since, his mother and uncle have said.

For the fourth straight day, Sheriff’s Department divers scoured areas of the lake, said Deputy Johnie Jones of the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department’s Parks Bureau.

“Our divers covered half a mile of lake and went 80 feet deep in places,” he said. “It’s no stone unturned right now.”

Two deputies on motorcycles were also searching around the lake, he said.

Searchers with both Parks Bureau and the volunteer group are expected to continue their hunt Wednesday.

Officials with the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office, meanwhile, continue to honor a gag order requested by homicide detectives on information surrounding the body of a man found burning on Lake Hughes Road a week ago.
