CARe, Inc., a nonprofit organization that provides free information and disaster recovery counseling to victims of a natural disaster, focusing primarily on insurance claims and construction issues, invites homeowners and others affected by last October's Santa Clarita Valley wildfires to a special meeting starting 10 a.m. Saturday at the SCV Senior Center.

CARe counselors have already assisted many families who were affected by the recent Santiago Canyon, Corral Canyon (Malibu) and San Diego County fires.

The organization is a consumer advocate group funded through grants and private donations and receives no funds or money from any special interest groups.

All SCV families and individuals who were victims of the wildfires are encouraged to attend this free meeting.

Organizers suggest victims take a copy of their insurance policy and any related correspondence.

The SCV Senior Center is located at 22900 Market Street in Newhall.

Those seeking assistance but unable to attend in person may visit the CARe Web site at or call the organization's toll-free number, 1-(888) 216-8264, for valuable information pertaining to your current insurance claim and future construction plans.
