Beazer Homes announced this week that it plans to build some 240 townhome and single-family condominiums in Santa Clarita.

The Atlanta-based builder bought land in the River Village community from Valencia-based developer Newhall Land.

The builder’s new homes fit into the Newhall Land’s overall master planned community vision, said Bob Shiota, California division president for Beazer Homes.

Beazer Homes expects to begin selling the first homes in 2015, he said.

“We are pleased to welcome Beazer Homes back to Valencia,” said Greg McWilliams, president of Newhall Land in a press release.

Beazer last built homes in the North Park community in the mid 90s, said Marlee Lauffer, ‎senior vice president marketing and communications for Newhall Land. They also built in Stevenson Ranch and Castaic, she said.

As for the master planned community of Valencia, it is nearly built out. When the Villa Metro community opened in mid-August, it became the last newly developed neighborhood in the original Valencia Master Plan, Lauffer said at the time.
