COC to kick off ‘Celebrating the Humanities’ program

The third annual “Celebrating the Humanities” program at College of the Canyons will launch Wednesday afternoon.

The program will kick off with guest presenter Alan Kaufman, who will read passages from his memoir “Drunken Angel” from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Carl A. Rasmussen Amphitheater at the COC Canyon Country campus.

He will do the reading again from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday in Mentry Hall, Room 343, at the Valencia campus.

Other events in the program include film screenings of “The Beat That My Heart Skipped” from director Jacques Audiard on Friday, Oct. 18, “Breathless” from director Jean-Luc Goddard on Oct. 29 and “A Prophet,” from director Jacques Audiard on Dec. 6.
