SANTA CLARITA - A Canyon Country businessman who heads a natural products company remains behind bars without bail today, accused of trying to hire a hit man to kill his wife, according to officials and court documents.

Dino Roy Guglielmelli, 52, who lives on MacMillan Ranch Road in Sand Canyon, was arrested Oct. 3 on suspicion of attempted murder, according to records from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

He remains in custody at the Pitchess Detention Center North Facility and is scheduled to be arraigned Nov. 19 in San Fernando Superior Court. He faces one count of attempted murder and one count of solicitation to commit a crime, according to Jane Robison, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office.

Guglielmelli’s bail was set at $2 million at the time of his arrest, but bail was later revoked.

A 20-year resident of the Santa Clarita Valley, Guglielmelli started a natural products company in 1993 called Creation’s Garden. The business started in Newhall but has since moved to a location in the Valencia Industrial Center near Castaic Junction.

Creation’s Garden is an organic health and beauty manufacturer that allows customers to shop directly from its fulfillment center. According to the company’s website, it operates a laboratory on more than 165,000 square feet of manufacturing space.

In an interview with The Signal in December, Guglielmelli said he originally intended to franchise the store but its products couldn’t earn a certified organic label. Guglielmelli said he decided to make his own organic products.

He said opening up his warehouse to customers allowed them to see first-hand the benefits of buying directly from the manufacturer.

“Basically, you can go through and pick your product — and it’s much cheaper than a retail facility,” he said in December. “Employees take advantage of this already, so we decided to make it available to the public on a limited basis.”

Reached by phone Monday, a company spokeswoman who gave her name only as Daisy said she had no comment to make about either the company or its founder and CEO.

Before launching Creation’s Garden, Guglielmelli worked for a local aerospace manufacturer, according to his biography posted on the company’s website.
