Santa Clarita Valley residents looking for some spooks and scares this Halloween season can get their terror fill by attending the Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society’s annual Heritage Haunt.

The event begins tonight and continues Saturday and through Oct. 25 and 26 from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at Heritage Junction, located inside William S. Hart Park.

The haunt will feature multiple attractions, including scary mazes and a haunted graveyard, as part of this year’s theme, “The Asylum.”

Admission to the event is $10; however, guests will receive a $5 discount if they bring two canned food items benefitting the SCV Food Pantry.

Enthusiasts can also walk in the Main Street Zombie March at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. The first 100 zombies will receive free admission to Heritage Haunt, and other walkers may still receive discounts for bringing two canned food items.

Makeup for the event will be available and provided by professional makeup artists. Registration to receive makeup application begins at 3 p.m. outside the old Newhall jailhouse next to the library.

Paranormal and ghost hunting enthusiasts, or people looking for a good scare, can attend the Ghost Haunt tonight and Saturday or Oct. 25 or 26 and on Halloween night from 10:30 p.m. to midnight. The haunt will be in the Newhall ranch house, one of Heritage Junction’s newer additions to the park. Admission is $65 per person.

For a more family-friendly, and less spooky, event, attend the annual Pumpkin Festival on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hart Park. Pumpkins will be free to the first 50 attendees, and the festival will include raffles, prizes, food and entertainment, as well as a carving contest.
