Ender can do the job

To The Editor:

I met City Council candidate Laurie Ender 25 years ago at Pepperdine University. We were both freshmen, and Laurie was hanging up political posters for her run for student council.

I'm pretty sure the first thing she said to me was, "May I count on your vote?" She did get my vote, and has been a close friend ever since.

It is absolutely no surprise to me, or any of her college friends, that she is now running for City Council. She was born for this job - not the job of politician, but of community leader.

Laurie isn't seeking this office because she's thinking of her political future - Laurie is seeking this job because she's thinking of Santa Clarita's future. Laurie has the skill, the intelligence and the commitment
to make things happen in Santa Clarita.

She's got ideas, but knowing talk is cheap, Laurie has the ability to make a plan and see it through to its completion, rather than hope someone else figures out how to do it.

She's never interested in blaming others for lack of progress; she's interested in finding solutions to keep Santa Clarita moving forward.

She's spent a great deal of time working with the PTA and the Parks Commission, so she's learned who gets things done around here, and how best to make it happen. She knows she can join this group and continue the work of the future.

She cares deeply about making a difference in her own community. It means a great deal to Laurie that she can drive down the streets of Santa Clarita, take her sons to the parks here, watch buildings go up in town and know that she has helped to make all these places better, safer and more efficient.

Laurie will represent us well on our City Council. It's been more than 20 years since I have been able to give Laurie my vote, but I am delighted to be able to do it again in the Santa Clarita City Council election on April 8.
