Delayed by what one organizer called "mule time," all 100 of the “100 Mules Walking the Los Angeles Aqueduct” performance parade arrived at Whitney Canyon in the Santa Clarita Valley by 3 p.m. today, where a smattering of local residents awaited their arrival.

“We’re operating on mule time,” a spokeswoman said when asked about a delay in their anticipated noontime arrival.

The animals are due to spend the night in Whitney Canyon before heading through the Newhall Pass Tuesday for an anniversary celebration of the aqueduct’s first 100 years carrying Owens Valley water to Los Angeles.
