Obamacare vote

Bob Comer writes in The Signal that he will vote for Democrat Lee Rogers if Rogers will pledge to live under the Obamacare exchanges like the rest of us, since Republican Buck McKeon is not doing that and even though Comer himself is a staunch Republican (“Abiding by the laws they make,” Nov. 6).

I would like to point out that McKeon and every other Republican voted against Obamacare.

I agree with the idea that Congress should live under the rules that it passes for us, but I cannot be too harsh on Buck for trying to protect his staff from a law that he opposed.

Had Lee Rogers been in Congress, he would — like other Democrats — have voted for Obamacare.

It would cost him nothing to claim a willingness to live under its provisions, since he knows that will never be required of him.

Further, in the future, Mr. Rogers will happily vote for other egregious, harmful, cockamamie and likely unconstitutional schemes.

That is the nature of Democrats. Why, Mr.  Comer, would you vote for that?

Cutting off your nose to spite your face comes to mind.
