Local sheriff’s deputies were looking for two robbers who stole about $400 in clothing from a store inside the Westfield Valencia Town Center mall Sunday, a lieutenant said.

“It sounds like a shoplifting gone bad,” said Lt. Tom Bryski of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. “They were apparently fighting with security.

Deputies said the two suspects were still being sought Sunday night.

Shortly after 2:10 p.m. Sunday, deputies responded to the mall after hearing reports of two young men having stolen clothing from an unnamed store, he said.

The two suspects were seen running from the Macy’s entrance and were southbound on foot, running toward Islands Fine Burgers & Drinks restaurant on Valencia Boulevard, across from the mall.

They were described as between 17 and 18 years old, each about 5-foot-8 and about 160 pounds, according to the sheriff’s dispatcher alerting deputies. One of them was described as Hispanic with black spiky hair and the other as white with a shaved head.

No weapon was used in the robbery, Bryski confirmed.
