Obamacare is American Socialism

You’ve got to hand it to our local Dem-socialist loyalists: when it comes to singing their one-note song from the same hymnal, Charlie Vignola and Jonathan Kraut have the tune down pat.

In their most recent columns desperately trying to support the abomination known as Obamacare, both blame its dismal reality on “failures” of the free market and, of course, those evil Republicans.

But when the legislation was being sold to the American people by Obama and the rest of the D.C. Dem-socialists, what were we told?

“If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor. If you like your health plan, you can keep your health plan. Period.” No one mentioned anything about skyrocketing premiums and deductibles, shrinking coverage and networks, ballooning out-of-pocket expenses, policy cancellations, or anything else actually having to do with reality. In fact, the whole sales job was based on a flat-out lie.

And why was that? Because they knew that if the truth were known then, as it is now, its support at the time would have blown away like dust in a windstorm. It would never have become law.

And who told those lies? Was it the evil Republicans? Nope. It was the Dem-socialists who are now all wailing about how this mess is still a good idea. But the reality of this snake-oil con job on the American people has now become obvious, and the bill has come due.

Obamacare is American socialism writ large, highlighting the truth that there is no free lunch, regardless of what’s promised by a lie. In order to actually pay the cost of providing insurance for the “uninsured poor” – one of the original “justifications” – someone else has to be dinged for the bill. That someone turns out to be the vast majority of people, the country’s middle class.

And we are not happy about it.
