A man who was robbed of his bicycle then beaten unconscious and left bleeding for more than two hours at a Valencia park was taken to a hospital Wednesday, The Signal has learned.

Shortly after 10 p.m. Wednesday, a man rode his blue and white bike from a pharmacy near the intersection of Bouquet Canyon Road and Newhall Ranch Road to his friend’s house in Bridgeport, according to an incident report filed by deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

On his way, the cyclist stopped at the restrooms on the east side of Bridgeport Park when he was approached, they said, by a man with a Jamaican accent, wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans, who demanded the $800 bike.

“When the victim said ‘No’ the suspect hit him four to five times in the head with either his fist or a small blunt object,” deputies reported.

The victim wasn’t sure if a weapon was used or not.

“The victim stated he lost consciousness after he was hit. When he awoke, he saw the suspect riding the bicycle southbound through the park and out of view,” they wrote. “The victim then sat on the ground and waited two and a half hours for someone to find him.

“The victim said he was fearful to move as he did not know the extent of his injury,” they reported.

At 50 minutes after midnight Wednesday into Thursday, the victim’s girlfriend found him at the park.

Paramedics with the Los Angeles County Fire Department treated the man for a deep laceration above his right eye, reporting the injury to be fresh and bleeding, according to deputies who photographed the injuries.

The victim was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.
