PERRIS, Calif. (AP) — Nearly two dozen people have been taken to hospitals following a collision between a transit bus, a car and a tow truck in Riverside County.

County fire spokeswoman Jody Hagemann says the crash was reported just before 9 a.m. Thursday on Highway 74 near the city of Perris.

She says total of 24 people were examined and 21 were transported with injuries ranging from minor to moderate. The driver of the car, a 48-year-old woman, is among those hospitalized.

California Highway Patrol Officer Nathan Baer says the Riverside Transit Authority bus was traveling in rainy conditions when it slid sideways and collided with a Pontiac Bonneville heading in the opposite direction.

Television images showed the bus with a long dent on one side.

The CHP is investigating.
