College of the Canyons defensive lineman Antonio Guy was named one of the top community college players in the state.

The 6-foot-2, 290-pound sophomore appeared on the California Community College Coaches Association annual All-America First-Team Defense.

The statewide team was announced along with regional teams on Thursday.

Guy was also placed on the All-California Region IV first-team defense, where he was joined by teammates Wes Johnson and Ryan McAleenon.

This season, Guy finished with 44 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks and four forced fumbles in 11 games.

Guy was also named National Division, Northern Conference Defensive Player of the Year earlier this month.

Playing his second year for COC, Guy helped anchor a stout COC defense that led the conference in points allowed and yards allowed per game.

COC ended up winning its first conference title since 2008.

The other honorees on the Region IV team were also defensive players.

Johnson was a freshman defensive lineman who tallied 36 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks in eight games.

McAleenon, a freshman linebacker, had 75 tackles, three sacks, two forced fumbles, an interception and six pass breakups on the year in 11 games.
