Santa Clarita Valley residents will continue to enjoy mostly sunny skies and highs in the 70s through the weekend between Christmas and New Year’s Day, National Weather Service forecasters said Thursday.

A Red Flag warning issued Wednesday remains in effect through 6 p.m. Thursday, with gusty north to northeast winds to 40 mph forecast for the Santa Clrita Valley.

The Red Flag warning indicates high fire danger. Relative humidity stood at 5 to 10 percent Thursday, with high temperatures contributing to the danger, forecasters said.

Temperatures are expected to reach near 75 Thursday, 74 Friday and into the low 70s Saturday and Sunday. The long-range forecast calls for sunny skies and highs near 70 on New Year’s Day Wednesday.

Lows will be mostly in the 50s throughout the coming week.
