A public hearing will be held Tuesday in front of the Santa Clarita Planning Commission to discuss a proposal to construct three new electronic billboards in Santa Clarita in exchange for eliminating more than half of the billboards currently up around the city.

Under the proposed agreement, hammered out between officials from the city and the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, 118 billboards at 62 locations in the Metro right-of-way would be eliminated.

In exchange, three new electronic billboards would be constructed on Interstate 5 or Highway 14 freeways.

One electronic billboard would be located near the intersection of Interstate 5 and Magic Mountain Parkway, another near Highway 14 and Oak Springs Canyon Road and the other near Highway 14 and Sierra Highway, according to the proposal.

The city Planning Commission meeting begins at 6 p.m. Tuesday in City Hall, 23920 Valencia Blvd.
