A 50-year-old Santa Clarita woman was killed on the 405 Freeway when the motorcycle on which she was riding slammed into a disabled BMW and she was thrown into traffic lanes.

The collision around 8:45 p.m. Monday occurred on the northbound 405 near Roscoe Boulevard, according to a report from the West Valley California Highway Patrol office.

Sharry K. Friel of Santa Clarita was riding on the back of a 2009 Yamaha when the motorcycle slammed into a 2011 BMW driven by a 27-year-old Newhall man. The BMW was stopped in the No. 1, or left-hand, lane due to a flat front tire.
Friel was ejected onto the No. 2 lane and hit by an oncoming 2005 Lexus, fatally injuring her.

Fire Department personnel pronounced her dead at the scene around 9 p.m.

Anyone with information on the collision was asked to call the West Valley CHP office at 818-888-0980.
