An 18-year-old man was injured and taken to the hospital after being hit by a car in Stevenson Ranch last evening, California Highway Patrol investigators said.

The CHP is investigating the collision, which happened just before 5:30 p.m. on The Old Road just north of Valencia Boulevard, according to CHP Officer Peter Bishop.

The teen was riding a skateboard in or near the crosswalk of Valencia Boulevard where it crosses the Old Road when a vehicle traveling northbound on The Old Road came through the intersection and struck the victim at about 50 mph, according to CHP Officer Nicholas Teddleton, who is investigating the incident.

“Right now it’s kind of in dispute who had the right of way,” Teddleton said.

A firefighter from county Fire Station 124 told The Signal a crew from their station responded to the incident, where they found one injured male who had been hit by a car.

The victim was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, according to the firefighter.

“They were working on him when we left,” he said.

Teddleton called the teen’s injuries “major,” but could not go into further detail, saying the crash is still under investigation.
