Local sheriff’s deputies are looking for a man who allegedly punched a woman, pulled her by the hair, “stomped” on her and threw her dog, according to a report filed by the deputy who responded to the attack.

The woman was rushed to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital. Although her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening there was no official update on her condition Sunday evening.

Shortly after 3:30 p.m. Friday, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to a battery call on Annes Circle near Sandy Drive, in Canyon Country, according to the report logged at the sheriff’s station.

The victim told the deputy the attack began when her ex-boyfriend entered her unlocked apartment.

“The suspect began yelling at her and accused her of calling somebody on him,” he wrote in his report. “She did not know what he was talking about. She said the suspect walked toward her angrily and smelled of alcohol.

“She wanted to run, but he was standing in front of the door,” he wrote. “She asked (the) suspect to sit down. He sat on the sofa in the living room and they began talking.

“While the suspect was sitting, the victim walked toward the kitchen to grab a water when suddenly the suspect got off the sofa and ran toward her. The suspect punchedher on her chin and neck area. The victim fell backward, hit a wall then landed on her knees.

“The victim said she was not able to breathe. The suspect then grabbed her by her hair and pulled her while she was still on her knees,” the deputy reported. “The suspected hit her on the face several times then let her go. The victim fell to her back. The suspect then stomped on the victim’s chest with his feet two or three times.

“The victim then crawled down the hallway away from the suspect but he followed her into a bedroom,” the deputy wrote. “The suspect then grabbed her by the hair and pushed her face into a pile of laundry. The victim said she was not able to breathe.

When “the victim’s small dog came into the bedroom barking, the suspect let go of her hair, grabbed the dog and threw the dog out of the room,” the deputy wrote.

That was the victim’s chance to escape.

“When the suspect let the victim go, she ran toward the front door to get out of the house. When she was exiting the house thru the front door, The suspect grabbed her by her wrist preventing her from leaving. She kicked the suspect at which time he let go.

“The victim ran across the street and called for help,” the deputy wrote.

A dispatched alert was issued to deputies with a description of the suspect described as a black man, 6-foot-2, weighing 220 pounds, in his late 30’s. Although the victim provided deputies with the name of her ex-boyfriend, investigators are still trying to confirm the attacker’s identity.

Paramedics with the Los Angeles County Fire Department treated the woman at the scene, then took her to the hospital for further treatment.

The deputy responding to the incident took photographs of her injuries.

The woman “requested an emergency protective order,” he wrote in his report.
