A preliminary hearing has been set for two Palmdale men arrested in connection with two robberies and an attempted robbery, said a spokesman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office.

Abraham James Bautista, 19, of Palmdale, and 18-year-old Joshua Lamar Right are charged with robbery, a felony.

On Wednesday, they appeared in San Fernando Superior Court where they were instructed to appear March 6 for a preliminary hearing, said District Attorney’s office spokesman Richardo Santiago.

During that hearing, prosecutors will present evidence in the case, and the defense can respond, after which the judge will decide if the case should go to trial.

Bautista and Right, identified respectively by Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s deputies as a seat installer and a construction worker, were arrested Oct. 23 on suspicion of robbery in relation to at least two incidents.

Both suspects were arrested during separate incidents on that day by deputies from Santa Clarita Valley Station and Palmdale Station.

“All of these crimes involved suspects who brandished a knife during the robbery and attempted robbery,” Lt. Steve Low said in news release issued at the time of the arrests.

“In the robbery that occurred in the industrial area of Valencia, a male black and male Hispanic stole cell phones and wallets from the victims,” he said.

The victims were able to give a description of the suspects and the vehicle the suspects fled in, he said.

Both men remain in custody at the Men’s Central Jail in Los Angeles.

Bail for Right is set at $190,000 and bail for Bautista is set at $120,000.
