Gutzeit gets it

To The Editor:

I am supporting Maria Gutzeit in the race for City Council as I believe she truly understands the issues and concerns of the residents of this city and has an impeccable track record for getting the job done.

If elected, she has pledged to increase police patrols; recruit higher-paying local jobs to cut commutes; work on traffic issues such as building roads through the Whittaker-Bermite property in the center of town;
continue efforts on parkland and trails (including dog parks); and insist on smart growth in both our city and surrounding county.

She will also propose running the Metrolink trains more often and improve parking at the Newhall Station (an issue that is dear to my heart).

Ms. Gutzeit obtained her understanding of the issues not just from her years of elected service or from her affiliations with numerous committees, associations, boards and volunteer groups, but from actually walking this entire city and knocking on doors to discuss these issues with residents on a one-to-one basis. Ms. Gutzeit not only talks the talk, she walks the walk.

On a serious note, I have been a resident of Canyon Country and Newhall for more than 35 years and as such I have found Ms. Gutzeit to be among the most dedicated, hard-working, competent and caring leaders that our city has. It would be our good fortune if she were elected to City Council.
