A trial date has been set for an Acton man accused of murder in the shooting death of a fellow Acton man following a dispute over a water truck last year, according to an official with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

The trial for Scott Russell Shipley is set to begin March 3, according to Ricardo Santiago, a spokesman with the District Attorney’s office.

Shipley is charged with murder in the May 15 shooting death of Christopher Lawrence Demyen.

Deputy District Attorney Tom Trainor told The Signal following a preliminary hearing last August that the shooting occurred while the two men argued over the location of a parked water truck.

Demyen owned the Acton Water Company and there was an Acton water truck parked in front of Shipley’s home, blocking access to his residence, according to Trainor.

A pushing match between the two ensued and led to the shooting, Trainor said.

Demyen was shot in the upper torso, according to officials.
