A look back at the crimes reported in the Newhall area last week.

On Sunday the 2nd at 11:00 p.m., a 31 year old male reported he had been assaulted by another male adult while he was walking on Newhall Avenue near 15th Street.  The men did not know each other, and the intent of the attack is unknown.

Deputies working in the Newhall area made several arrests last week.  On Tuesday the 25th, a 31 year old male from Saugus was arrested on Lyons Avenue for possession of methamphetamine. On Wednesday the 26th, a 28 year old male from Palmdale was arrested on Main Street for possession of cocaine.  Also on the 26th, a 29 year old male and a 40 year old female, both from Pacoima, were arrested on Lyons Avenue for possession of a stolen vehicle.

Santa Clarita is a very active community.  Many residents hike and ride bicycles on the trails throughout the outlying areas surrounding the city.  If you choose to hike or bike alone, take a few minutes to prepare for the trip and consider some possible life saving tips.  Inform others of your plans and route.  Bring food and plenty of water.  Wear layers of clothing.  Carry a cell phone with GPS or a beacon so you can be found even if you are not able to help in your rescue.

Remember to lock your doors and windows, don’t leave valuables in plain view, be aware of your surroundings, and report suspicious behavior.
