The next Canyon Country Advisory Committee meeting is Wednesday, April 15 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., in the George A. Caravalho Activity Center Banquet Room, 20880 Centre Pointe Parkway, Santa Clarita.

Representatives of Code Enforcement will provide a presentation on the completion plan for the Canyon Country Extreme Neighborhood Makeover. The information provided will include Targeted Areas, Neighborhood Makeover Time Line, Code Enforcement Organizational Changes and Staffing Plan.

As a part of the new plan a second Canyon Country Extreme Neighborhood Makeover Block Party has been planned for Saturday, April 11, 2009. It will be held from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.

The location of the party will be north of Sierra Vista Junior High on Pleasantdale. CCAC members are all invited. If you want an opportunity to directly ask our councilmembers or city staff about the Extreme Neighborhood Makeover program this will be a good opportunity.

Next will be an update on the MRF Site Selection Process. We will discuss the definition and purpose of a MRF (Material Recovery Facility) and a Transfer Station. We will use part of this time to compile a list of concerns to be brought before the MRF Site Selection Committee.

The MRF Site Selection Committee is proposed to be comprised of a total of 16 representatives from local organizations. Alan Ferdman will be representing the CCAC on the MRF Site Selection Committee.

Of the 16-member committee, there are three open seats which the Council will fill through an application process.

If you are interested in being part of this committee, you will have the opportunity to apply for one of the open seats by completing an application. The application process is underway.

The deadline to complete and submit the application is Monday, April 13. You may download an application from the city of Santa Clarita Web site or you may call the city's Environmental Services Division at (661) 286-4098 to have an application mailed to you.

The Waste Diversion Subcommittee will evaluate the applications and propose who will fill the three open seats. The Council will consider the entire participant list at the Council meeting scheduled for April 28.

A presentation will also be provided on illegal sign abatement in Canyon Country.
