Open Letter To My Mother

Mother’s Day is coming up and, although it has long since been commercialized, honoring a woman who played a remarkable role in our lives is a noble thing to do.

As my mother ages, and the roles switch between parent and child, I find myself frustrated at times. And I sometimes find my patience wearing thin. I want the woman back who mothered and nurtured me, not the other way around.

As a result, I decided that for this Mother’s Day I will sit down and write my mom a letter recalling all that she has done for me, and what she has meant to me, and thank her. And, I will tell her how very much I love her.

There are also many women we encounter in our lives who influenced us a great deal that we can, and should, pay tribute to.

These women may have fostered or adopted children, served as mentors and role models, made incredible sacrifices, or selflessly served others.

We should remember these women throughout the year, as well as our biological mothers.

In honor of this Mother’s Day, send us your stories about the women who inspired you. And we would love to get photos of them as well.

Stories should run 500 to 700 words in length. Don’t worry about how polished your story might be – we’ll help!
