A man wanted on a bench warrant after failing to appear in court last week on a charge of stabbing his son made his first court appearance Tuesday, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office said.

Michael Brian Phillipson, 56, of Saugus, missed his first scheduled appearance in court a week ago because he missed the inmate bus, spokesman Richard Santiago said.

Phillipson appeared Tuesday in San Fernando Superior Court on a charge of attempted murder. He is accused of stabbed his son several times inside a Saugus house the two rented.
