Alison Lee is no stranger to Mission Hills Country Club, nor is she new to the big stage.

The 19-year-old Valencia High graduate made the 36-hole cut on Friday in the LPGA’s first major championship of the year, the Kraft Nabisco Championship.

After two rounds at the par-72 course in Rancho Mirage, Lee is 5-over and tied for 70th place, which is just above the cutline. She turned in rounds of 75 and 74.

The 111-player field will be cut down to 73 players who will continue on into the weekend.

This is Lee’s second start in the Kraft Nabsisco and her first made cut, but it’s not the first time she’s seen success at Mission Hills Country Club.

Last July, she won the ClubCorp Mission Hills Desert Junior tournament at the same course and also won the event as a 15-year-old in 2010.

Granted, those tournaments featured other junior players, whereas Lee is playing against the top professional golfers in the world this week.

Lee, a freshman at UCLA, is one of 10 amateurs in the field.

In addition to her two Kraft Nabisco appearances, Lee has also played in three U.S. Women’s Open tournaments and made the cut twice.

She’ll head into Saturday’s round 11 stroked behind the co-leaders, Lexi Thompson and Se Ri Pak, who are both at 7-under.

Lee tees off at 8:16 a.m. on Saturday morning for her third round.

TV coverage of the Kraft Nabisco Championship begins at 2 p.m. on The Golf Channel.
