Santa Clarita is inviting residents to a “meet and greet’ for the new Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station captain Wednesday at City Hall.

Capt. Roosevelt Johnson, who replaces retired Capt. Paul Becker, brings nearly 23 years of experience to the position, including assignments to the Pitchess Detention Center, custody administration, the training bureau and the West Hollywood station.

He’s also worked as a chief’s aide and in the Internal Affairs Bureau.

Johnson holds a master of arts degree in Criminal Justice and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy.

The captain of the SCV Sheriff’s Station, which serves all of the Santa Clarita Valley, serves as the de facto police chief for the city of Santa Clarita.

The city’s “meet and greet” for Johnson is scheduled 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Century Room of Santa Clarita City Hall. All Santa Clarita Valley residents are invited.
