The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook today for a slight chance of showers or thunderstorms in the Santa Clarita Valley and elsewhere around Southern California.

Forecasters warned of possible locally heavy downpours, which could create mud and debris flows in areas charred by wildfires last summer.

The outlook statement expires tonight.

The Santa Clarita Valley should see a high of 72 today under partly cloudy skies. By the weekend temperatures will be on the rise, with forecast highs of 76 Saturday and 84 Sunday under mostly sunny skies.
