California Highway Patrol officers are looking into the circumstances surrounding a black Corvette found abandoned at the bottom of a ravine along Bouquet Creek over the weekend, according to the CHP.

On Saturday night and again on Sunday, CHP officers were dispatched to a section of Bouquet Canyon Road between the southern entrance to the Angeles National Forest and the Big Oaks Lodge restaurant, for reports of a car in the ravine, a CHP spokesman said Sunday.

Shortly before 2:30 p.m. Sunday, firefighters with the Los Angeles County Fire Department were also dispatched to the scene, Fire Department Bernard Peters said.

“The car was reported to be in the river bed,” he said.

Firefighters arrived to find the car being pulled from the ravine, according to spokesmen with the CHP and the Fire Department.

“It was a crash that happened apparently Saturday night and the car was retrieved Sunday,” the CHP officer said.

The car was first reported found in the ravine on Saturday night, according to one of three Angeles National Forest workers interviewed Sunday by the side of Bouquet Canyon Road, just south of the Bouquet Reservoir.
“We actually got the same call last night,” the worker said.

No one was reported hurt in the apparent crash, according to CHP, the county Fire Department and the ANF.
