The city of Santa Clarita is making it easy for residents to forego their cars in honor of the Earth Day event on Saturday, April 18.

Free transportation will be provided all day long to anywhere in the city thanks to MV Transportation, the city's transit contractor.

The complimentary bus and shuttle service will be provided in honor of the city's "Earth Day Festival and 22nd Annual Arbor Day Celebration," held April 18 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Central Park, 27150 Bouquet Canyon Road.

The city is encouraging event attendees to leave their cars at home and take eco-friendly forms of transportation to Central Park.

"The Earth Day Festival and 22nd Annual Arbor Day Celebration signifies more than just the community coming together to celebrate the planet," said Mayor Frank Ferry. "Through this event, the city strives to provide residents with the knowledge and tools necessary to make a positive change in the environment."

Community members can ride their bike to a shuttle stop, departing from the Westfield Valencia Town Center and the city's Sports Complex, and valet-park their cycle in designated "Bike Parking Zones" created specifically for the event.

City shuttles will drop passengers off at Central Park for free and riders will receive a free eco-friendly shopping bag, compliments of Whole Foods Market.

The event is designed to teach community members of all ages about the environment in a fun, interactive way.

Attendees can browse more than 80 eco and local vendors and enjoy activities scheduled in six interactive zones (eco, energy, green car, community, children's and water conservation), live music from local singer-songwriters, food and more all day long at the event.
