Brush fire breaks out off Interstate 5 near Templin Highway

A brush fire off of Interstate 5 in the area of Templin Highway burned approximately 6 acres Saturday, according to officials.

The fire was first reported around 10:30 a.m., according to an official with the Fire Department and for a time burned uphill and east.

Winds in the area are reported to be around 10 mph at the time of the fire.

Knockdown was reported on the fire in the early afternoon, around 2 p.m. or so, according to officials.

A SigAlert was issued as the two right lanes on northbound Interstate 5 north of Vista Del Lago were closed while crews worked to get the fire under control, according to the California Highway Patrol. Lanes were closed for several hours Saturday.
