This Sunday (May 3, 2009) the 21st annual Taste of the Town comes to the Mann Biomedical Parlk in Valencia.

This Sunday all the right flavors come together as the 21st annual Taste of the Town returns to the Mann Biomedical Park in Valencia. Anticipated as one of the SCV's highlight events each year, the festival-like outdoor gathering allows the SCV's top food and beverage purveyors to introduce the public to their tastiest offerings.

An incredible assortment of entrées, desserts, beer, wine and other delights await you, along with top-shelf entertainment, cooking demonstrations and a silent auction.

Not only does Taste of the Town bring the diverse flavors of the SCV together in one place, it highlights our valley's sense of community. Vendors, volunteers, sponsors and supporters come together to create a fun event that benefits one of our most important non-profit organizations - the Child & Family Center.

"This 21st Taste of the Town celebrates a unique business-to-charity relationship that exemplifies the special partnership between the Child & Family Center and local businesses," said Lois Bauccio, the president and executive director of the Child & Family Center.

"Simply stated, Taste of the Town could not happen without the participation and support of hundreds of local businesses, both large and small," Bauccio said "From our fabulous food and drink exhibitors, to our sponsors, led by Bank of Santa Clarita, to our raffle prize contributors - Princes Cruises and Classic Designs Jewelry - and to all our corporate and small business donors, we owe a huge debt of gratitude."

At this writing, 40 vendors were on tap to present their "tastes" to the town. The foods offered will include Italian, Thai, Chinese, Caribbean, Mexican, Japanese, American, barbecue, grill and deli. Beverages include wine, beer, tea and smoothies. And among the desserts there will be frozen lemonade, cakes, candies, and more.

Frank Lozano from Power 106 will be the emcee for the day, and musical entertainment will be provided by Mark LeVang & Friends, performing familiar tunes by Earth Wind and Fire, Tower of Power, Chaka Kahn and more. The Valli Boys will offer a musical tribute to Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.

Top chefs will present cooking demonstrations every half hour from 1:30 p.m. until 4 p.m. (see our sidebar regarding Jason Park's presentation) and there will be a silent auction, where you may get a great deal on anything from tooth whitening to a vacation in Hawaii.

Along the way there will be prize drawings for which you may purchase a ticket that could bring you a cruise, one-carat diamond or cigar basket. And, if you want to be certain to come away with something, boutiques will have their wares available for sale, including designer label clothing.

Basically, Taste of the Town offers you a full afternoon of delicious culinary samplings and good times - and all to benefit a good cause. Some come out and join your friends at one of the year's top social events. The weather is expected to be just about perfect. Remember: Taste of the Town is for those 21 and older.
