Hospital hosts blood drive

Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital is hoping Santa Clarita residents will "spring into action" Thursday and donate blood during the hospital's Spring Blood Drive.

"It takes just a little time to make a big difference in the lives of patients in our community," said Dr. Roger Der, associate director of Henry Mayo's Laboratory and Pathology Services. "One donation can save the lives of up to three people and your donation can help a kid with cancer feel better or save the life of a car accident victim."

The blood given during this drive will be used locally for hospital patients. Blood donors must be at least 17 years of age, weigh at least 110 pounds and have not donated blood in the last eight weeks.
Donors can register by visiting or by calling (661) 253-8888 for an appointment.

Walk-ins are also welcome. Donors are asked to bring a valid photo identification and eat a nutritious meal prior to donating. The process typically takes less than an hour.

The blood drive will be held Thursday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Henry Mayo/COC Clinical Education Center at 25727 McBean Parkway in Valencia.
