Oak Hill church establishes Oak Hill institute
Oak Hill Bible Church, a nondenominational Christian Church, has formed the Oak Hill Institute.

The institute has nine divisions of study, including Old Testament, New Testament, systematic theology, church history, spiritual formation, comparative religion, apologetics, practical ministry and beginner course.

Classes begin at 7 p.m. and are held on Thursday nights at the Oak Hill Church building in Castaic. Interactive sessions last for two hours per night.

The institute's current course is "The Second Temple Period," an eight-week class covering the history of Jewish life and culture from 516 B.C. to A.D. 70. The class is taught by Oak Hill Pastor Jeff Noe.

Beth Shalom hosts Second Seder
Congregation Beth Shalom will host its annual Community Passover Second Seder led by Rabbi Ira Rosenfeld and Cantor Beth Rosenfeld on April 20 at 5:30 p.m.

The cost is $35 for adults (ages 13 and up), $25 for children 7 to 12 and free for children 6 and under.

Grant writing seminar planned
Community and Faith-Based Services Inc. and the Department of Health and Human Services will be hosting a free grant writing seminar on April 25 at Central Library in Los Angeles.

The seminar is designed for nonprofits, faith-based organizations and individuals interested in providing community services.

Workshops will be held at various times at the library, which is located at 630 W. 5th Street in Los Angeles. The seminar is free, but seating is limited.
