When you’re standing by the curb along the Santa Clarita Fourth of July Parade route Saturday, watch for a local war hero recognized nationally as one of the country’s most outstanding volunteers.

It might prove challenging to pick him out of the hundreds of parade participants. He’s unassuming, quiet-spoken, legally blind and legally deaf.
