An unidentified man jumped to his death from the bridge on White’s Canyon Road at Via Princess Sunday morning in view of several people, a lieutenant with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station said.

“A male adult jumped from the bridge and we have several witnesses who saw him jump,” said Lt. Tom Bryski told The Signal Sunday.

Investigators with the both the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Department and with the Homicide Bureau of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department were notified immediately of the death, he said.

Deputies responded to reports shortly after 10:30 a.m. of a male about to jump from the bridge that spans the Santa Clara River wash near Via Princessa, one deputy confirmed.

At 10:35 a.m., deputies were updated by their dispatcher that the male jumped off the bridge.

Paramedics with the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to reports of a man “suffering injuries from a fall” at the same location, Fire Department  Supervisor Art Marrujo.

They were advised that the jumper had survived the fall.

Paramedics, however, took no one to the hospital, Marrujo said.

Deputies roped off access to the ravine below the bridge at Via Princessa on the south side of bridge and on its north side.  An overturned bicycle was seen behind the yellow sheriff’s tape at the top of the ravine.

Deputies were advised that the bicycle belonged to the male who jumped.
