Burglaries increase during hot weather

SCV Sheriff’s Station detectives are investigating several unsolved burglaries around the Santa Clarita Valley as warm weather continues an upswing in the crime, a sergeant said Tuesday.

“People leave their doors and windows open and their garage doors open” during the summer, Sgt. Gary Miller of the Sheriff’s Detective Section said, noting bike thefts from open garages are one of the most notable crimes trending in the SCV.
